Konstantin Nikolajewitsch Igumnow
Konstantin Nikolayevich Igumnov ( Russian Константин Николаевич Игумнов , born April 19 . Jul / 1. May 1873 greg. In Lebedyan ; † 24. March 1948 in Moscow ) was a Russian composer and piano virtuoso .
Igumnow first studied piano privately with Nikolai Swerew , then at the Moscow Conservatory with Alexander Siloti and Christian Georg Paul Pabst , as well as theory and composition with Sergei Taneyev , Anton Arensky and Michail Ippolitow-Ivanov . In 1895 he took part in the Anton Rubinstein Competition in Berlin . In 1899 he became a professor at the Moscow Conservatory, which he directed from 1924 to 1929. In February 1910 he recorded six piano pieces for the Welte-Mignon reproduction piano . His numerous students include Lev Oborin , Jelena Beckmann-Shcherbina , Anatoli Alexandrow , Jakow Flier , Bella Davidovich , Rosa Tamarkina , Natalia Satina (the wife of Sergei Rachmaninov ) and the conductor Issay Dobrowen .
