Nikolai Sergeyevich Zverev ( Russian Николай Сергеевич Зверев ; born March 13 . Jul / 25. March  1833 greg. In Sisenewo at Volokolamsk , † September 30 jul. / 12. October  1893 greg. In Moscow ) was a Russian pianist and teacher.

Live and act

Swerev first studied physics and mathematics at Moscow University , at the same time he privately studied piano with Alexandre Dubuque . He interrupted his studies prematurely and moved to Saint Petersburg , where he entered the civil service and at the same time refined his piano playing with Adolf Henselt . At Dubuque's summons he came to Moscow in 1867, where he met Nikolai Grigoryevich Rubinstein and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky .

Swerew soon began to teach piano himself, at first privately, and in 1870 he opened a musical boarding house, which quickly enjoyed an excellent reputation. Young pianists such as Alexander Ilyich Siloti , Sergei Wassiljewitsch Rachmaninow , Konstantin Nikolayewitsch Igumnow lived in his pension .

Alexander Nikolaevich Scriabin was one of Sverv's pupils . Swerev helped the less well-off students financially. At the suggestion of Anton Grigoryevich Rubinstein , Swerjew taught at the Moscow Conservatory from 1870 and became a professor in 1883.

The residents of the pension were obliged to practice at least six hours a day. Famous musicians visited the pension, u. a. Sergei Iwanowitsch Taneyev , Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky , Anton Stepanowitsch Arensky , Anton Grigorjewitsch Rubinstein and Vasily Ilyich Safonow .
