Joanne Eccles (born February 16, 1989 in Scotland ) is a British world and European champion in vaulting . At the beginning of 2015, she announced that she would end her career as a lone vaulting artist.

Life

Joanne Eccles has practiced vaulting since she was eight. At the age of 9 she was accepted into the Scottish vaulting team and took part in an international competition, the CVI in Saumur (France), for the first time in 1999 . Since 2003, Eccles has started internationally as a single vault. With the European Champion title in Malmö in 2009 , Eccles became the first British woman to win a medal at a vaulting championship. Her greatest successes are the world championship titles in 2010 ( Lexington, Kentucky ) and 2012 ( Le Mans ). She is still considered the most internationally successful female vaulting artist in Great Britain.

Her club is the Wee County Vaulters Club in Scotland , which was founded in 2001 by her father John Eccles. He is also the lunge guide of her horses WH Bentley and Baroque . Together with her sister Hannah, who is also an internationally successful single vaulter, she starts as a doubles. All disciplines taken together, Eccles is 19 times British national champion. Apart from vaulting, she studies dentistry .
