Alba Ventura

Alba Ventura (born November 13, 1978 in Barcelona ) is a Catalan classical pianist and music teacher. She had built a piano solo career as a child. As a graduate of the Acadèmia Marshall , Alba Ventura, like Daniel Ligorio i Ferrandiz and José Enrique Bagaría Villazán, is one of the currently active artists of the Catalan Pianist School .

life and work

Alba Ventura made her debut at the age of 13 as a soloist with the Mozart Concerto KV 271 with the Cadaqués Orchestra under the direction of Sir Neville Marriner in San Sebastián and at the Auditorio Nacional de Música in Madrid.

She had international solo appearances in European auditoriums such as the Wigmore Hall , Barbican Center and St. Martin in the Fields in London, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Musikverein in Vienna , the Cité de la Musique in Paris, the Laeiszhalle in Hamburg, the Cologne Philharmonic , the Palais des Beaux-Arts de Bruxelles in Brussels and the Svetlanov Hall in Moscow. She has also given concerts in the Mario Laserna Auditorium in Bogotá and in the Auckland Town Hall in New Zealand. She has worked with conducting personalities such as Giovanni Antonini , Howard Griffiths , Miguel Harth-Bedoya , Christopher Hogwood , Salvador Mas , Eiji Oué , Antoni Ros-Marbà and Tamás Vásáry .

Ventura began her piano studies with Sílvia Llanas. She later attended the Acadèmia Marshall , where she studied with Carlota Garriga and received master classes with Alicia de Larrocha . At the age of eleven she received a scholarship to study with Dmitri Bashkirow at the Escola Superior de Música Reina Sofia University in Madrid. After an audition in Berlin, Vladimir Ashkenazy took on a tutor role for her musical development. He organized a study visit for Ventura with Irina Zaritskaya at the Purcell School and later at the Royal College of Music in London. She took part in master classes with Nikita Magaloff , Maria João Pires and Radu Lupu . She won the international piano competition Young Concert Artist Trust (YCAT).

In the 2009/2010 concert season she was selected and sponsored by the European Concert Hall Organization (ECHO) as the only solo pianist for the Rising Stars program . In 2014 she was awarded the IMPULSA Prize by the Fundació Príncesa de Girona .

Alba Ventura is a full professor of piano at the Conservatori del Liceu in Barcelona.
