José Enrique Bagaría Villazán

José Enrique Bagaría Villazán (* 1978 in Barcelona ) is a Catalan pianist and music teacher. Like Alba Ventura and Daniel Ligorio i Ferrandiz, he is one of the currently active artists of the Catalan Pianist School .

life and work

Bagaría began his piano studies at the age of 6. He studied at the Municipal Conservatory of Barcelona with Rosa Masferrer and Luiz de Moura Castro . He graduated from this degree in 1995. In 1992 and 1993 he completed postgraduate studies at the École Normale Alfred Cortot in Paris with Aquiles Delle Vigne . From 1995 to 1999 Stanislav Pochekin directed his artistic development at the Conservatori del Liceu in Barcelona. Between 1999 and 2003 he perfected his skills at the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía , the University of Music in Madrid, with Dmitri Baschkirow , Claudio Martínez Mehner and Galina Eguiazarova . Finally, he rounded off his training with Vadim Suchanov at the Richard Strauss Conservatory in Munich . During this phase he was advised by Alicia de Larrocha , Josep M. Colom , Elisso Wirsaladse , Leon Fleisher , Andrzej Jasiński and Vitaly Margulis, among others . He has won numerous piano competitions, including the 52nd International Maria Canals Competition in Barcelona in 2006 .

He has taken part in numerous music festivals such as the Fundación Scherzo , the Perelada Festival and the Santander Festival. He has also performed in the music halls of Barcelona, ​​Madrid and Zaragoza, the Palau de la Música Catalana and the Saint Petersburg Philharmonic, as well as in Italy, France, Germany and Bulgaria as well as in New York and Bogota.

As a chamber musician, he has performed with Latica Honda-Rosenberg , Erez Ofer , the Elias String Quartet and the Quiroga Quartet , among others .

Among other things, he recorded an album with the bassoonist Stefano Canuti on which both performed three Bach sonatas (BWV 1027, 1028 and 1029).

Bagaría is currently professor of piano and chamber music at the Conservatori del Liceu in Barcelona and at the Zaragoza Conservatory.
