Daniel Ligorio i Ferrandiz

Daniel Ligorio i Ferrandiz (* 1975 in Martorell ) is a Catalan classical pianist and music teacher. Like Alba Ventura and José Enrique Bagaría Villazán, he is one of the currently active artists of the Catalan Pianist School .

life and work

Ligorio studied at the Conservatori de Barcelona with Miquel Farré , where he graduated from all courses with distinction at the age of 19. In 1998 he obtained his Advanced Postgraduate of Performance from the Royal College of Music in London with Yonty Solomon . He has received numerous prizes and awards. First prizes at the Concurso de JJ should be mentioned here . MM. De Vilafranca del Penedés (Youth Music Competition of Vilafranca del Penedés) as a nine-year-old, Concurso Permanente de JJ. MM. De España (youth music competition of Spain) and at El Primer Palau in Barcelona. In 1988 Ligorio represented Spain as a pianist in the concert of the European Broadcasting Union . During his stay in England he won the following prizes: the Quilter Piano Prize , the Kendall Taylor Beethoven Piano Prize and the Hopkinson Gold Medal & Sydney & Peggy Shimmin Piano Prize .

Since 1993 Ligorio has appeared as a soloist with the Jove Orquestra Simfònica de Catalunya , the youth symphony orchestra of Catalonia, under Josep Pons . After his debut in the National Auditorium of Madrid with the RTVE Symphony Orchestra , he performed with the best national orchestras. In 1998 he opened the festival for the 100th birthday of the poet Federico García Lorca in the Auditorio de Música of Granada in front of the Spanish royal family. Ligorio gave numerous concerts in Spain, Italy, Ireland, Germany, England, Belgium and Bulgaria. He participated in numerous piano festivals such as those of Granada, Peralada, Cadaqués and Torroella de Montgrí. Ligorio was the pianist at the world premiere of the Juventus Concerto for 2 Pianos and Orchestra by Antón García Abril . He has appeared as a chamber musician with the Trio Ligorio-Orpella-Mor since 2002 . In the field of chamber music he played with the Gewandhaus Quartet , the Brodsky Quartet and the Prague Quartet , among others . Some of his concerts have been recorded and broadcast on TVE , TVC and RAI . In 1999 he recorded his first CD with works by Liszt and Bartok. For the Naxos label he recorded, among other things, the Concerto for Orchestra and Piano by Joaquín Rodrigo and the entire piano works by Manuel de Falla .

Ligorio is currently professor of piano and chamber music at the Conservatori del Liceu in Barcelona.
