Alexander Borisovich Gold Weiser ( Russian Александр Борисович Гольденвейзер ., Scientific transliteration Aleksandr Borisovič Gol'denvejzer ; born February 26 . Jul / 10. March 1875 greg. In Chisinau ; † 26. November 1961 in Moscow ) was a Russian composer and pianist .
Life
Goldenweiser studied piano with Alexander Siloti and Pawel Pabst and composition with Sergei Taneyev , Anton Arenski and Mikhail Ippolitow-Ivanov at the Moscow Conservatory . From 1904 he was a professor at the school of the Philharmonic Society. From 1906 he also taught at the conservatory, which he directed between 1922 and 1924 and between 1939 and 1942. His numerous students include Grigori Ginsburg , Lasar Berman , Samuil Feinberg , Dmitri Kabalewski , Nikolai Petrow , Nikolai Kapustin , Tatjana Nikolajewa , Nelly Akopian , Dmitri Bashkirow , Sergei Jewsejew , Leonid Rojsman and many more.
He composed three operas , two orchestral suites , a Dante overture, a revolutionary cantata, a string quartet , a piano trio , a piano sonata and fugues for piano.
