Anna Theresa of Savoy ( French Anne-Thérèse de Savoie ; Italian Anna Teresa di Savoia ; born November 1, 1717 in Paris , France ; † April 5, 1745 ibid) was a princess from the House of Savoy . She was the second wife of Charles de Rohan, prince de Soubise , a French officer and friend of Louis XV.

Life

Anna Theresa of Savoy was born in 1717 at the Hôtel de Soissons in Paris. They belonged to a branch line of the House of Savoy and were the daughter of Viktor Amadeus I, Prince of Carignano and his wife Maria Viktoria of Savoy. Through her mother, she was the granddaughter of King Viktor Amadeus II of Sicily.

Anna Theresa grew up in Paris because her parents had left the Savoyard court due to their high debts and came to Paris during the reign of Philippe von Orléans .

On November 6, 1741, Anna Theresa married Charles de Rohan in the Rohan Castle in Saverne . The ceremony was performed by Armand I. Gaston Maximilien de Rohan-Souboise , Bishop of Strasbourg and brother Charles'. Charles was married to Anne Marie Louise de La Tour d'Auvergne, who died in 1739. As head of a branch line of the House of Rohan , he carried the titles of Prince de Soubise and Duke of Rohan-Rohan. In 1758 he was appointed Marshal of France and served both Louis XV. as well as Louis XVI. as a minister.

Anna Theresa died in 1745 giving birth to a child in the Hôtel de Soubise in Paris. Her husband married Viktoria von Hessen-Rotenburg for the third time in December of the same year .
