Anna Xiulan Zeeck
Anna Xiulan Zeeck (born May 22, 1956 in Nanyang , People's Republic of China) is a German writer, translator and publisher from China. While her magically illustrated adventure stories enable encounters with ancient Chinese culture, her novels focus on insights into the lives of today's Chinese youth. Your most important translation refers to a collection of ancient writings that were written thousands of years ago.
Life
Anna Xiulan Zeeck experienced the cultural revolution in her early youth (1966–1976). After completing her school education, she went to the country, like almost all school leavers at the time. She worked there for two years, then completed a pedagogical training and worked as a teacher. When the universities resumed normal teaching at the end of the Cultural Revolution, she was one of the millions of young people who applied for admission and took the central entrance examination. She was one of the 5% of applicants who passed the exam, studied English at the renowned Henan University and graduated with a bachelor's degree. She then worked as a department head in a state institution.
When the Chinese opening policy began, she came to Germany in 1987 and continued her studies at the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg , where she passed her master's degree and was awarded a doctorate .
Today she lives with her husband, the professor emeritus Erich Zeeck , in Oldenburg . Your daughter is a doctor in Hanover.
Act
The focus of the writing activity is on books related to China. Her artistically illustrated children's books with exciting adventure stories on the one hand give readers a lively insight into traditional Chinese culture. Her novels, on the other hand, tell sensitively of young people from migrant workers' families who have to master their lives in foreign cities or in the country far from their parents, as well as of young people in modern urban “super schools” who are caught between equal opportunities and bitter competition.
Your translation concerns one of the most important classical writings of China, the wisdom of which is still important and applicable even today, after thousands of years.
