Anna Zassimova

Anna Wiktorowna Zassimova (* around 1976 in Moscow ) is a German pianist , musicologist , art historian and music teacher of Russian origin. She has lived in Germany since 2002.

life and work

Anna Zassimova was born in Moscow as the daughter of a physicist and a pianist. She studied piano with Wladimir Tropp at the Gnessin Music Academy in Moscow and with Michael Uhde and Markus Stange at the Karlsruhe University of Music . She did her doctorate in musicology and trained as an art historian.

Zassimova has given solo and chamber music concerts at international festivals such as the Ruhr Piano Festival , the Piano á Saint-Ursanne , the Bloomsbury Festival in London, the Heidelberg Spring , the Musica Viva Munich and the ECLAT Stuttgart . As an orchestral soloist, she has given concerts with the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra , the Württemberg Chamber Orchestra , the Orchestra of the Nationaltheater Mannheim and the Heilbronn Symphony Orchestra . Zassimova went on concert tours to Russia, the USA and China.

Zassimova recorded several records. There were also some first recordings. Her discography focuses on piano and chamber music from the fin de siècle in Russia as well as works by Frédéric Chopin . She has recorded chamber music works by Georgi Catoire as well as all piano chamber music works by Sergej Taneyev . The rediscovery of the aforementioned Russian-French composer Georgi Catoire was clearly associated with Anna Zassimova. Her book on Catoire's life and work (2011) opened, “a new look at this pioneer of Russian modernism.” Her CD “Sonata Reminiscenza” (Hänßler Classic, 2018) was nominated in Germany in 2019 for the “Opus Classic” prize.

Zassimova has been a lecturer at the Karlsruhe University of Music since 2007 . She gives international master classes in piano. She participated several times as a juror in the Jugend musiziert competition . As a musician and art historian, she supports and promotes the collaboration between the Karlsruhe University of Music and the Karlsruhe State Art Gallery . She participates in interdisciplinary projects that intertwine the visual arts and music . She combines the presentation of composers and visual artists of the Art Nouveau and fin de siècle of Russian art in moderated piano concerts.
