Annagul Annakuliyeva

Annagul Annakuliyeva ( Russian Аннагуль Аннакулиева ; born December 31, 1924 ; died July 18, 2009 in Ashgabat ) was a Turkmen opera singer (soprano) and film actress . Annakuliyeva was the first Turkmen opera singer to achieve international fame.

Life

The soprano Annakuliyeva began her career in 1941 at the Turkmen Theater for Opera and Ballet in Ashgabat , the capital of the then Turkmen SSR within the Soviet Union . She played and sang the leading role in the opera Zöhre-Tahyr by Adrian Schaposchnikow , which premiered on November 6, 1941 and was one of the first Turkmen opera compositions.

Annakuliyeva has appeared in theaters across the Soviet Union and has appeared in a number of Soviet films, such as Schachsenem i Garib in 1964, but also her husband Alty Garliyev's directorial work , such as Sa rekoi graniza in 1971. In recognition of her merits for art, especially opera, Annakuliyeva was honored as a People's Artist of the USSR .

Annagul Annakuliyeva died on July 18, 2009 in Ashgabat at the age of 85 . Only shortly before, in 2008, was a ban on all opera performances, which the Turkmen President Saparmyrat Nyýazow had issued in 2001, lifted by his successor Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow .
