Annemarie Lorentzen

Annemarie Lorentzen (born September 23, 1921 in Sør-Varanger ; † June 30, 2008 ) was a Norwegian politician of the Arbeiderpartiet (Ap) and ambassador to Iceland.

education and profession

Lorentzen finished her teacher training in 1943 . From 1947 to 1969 she taught at a school in Hammerfest .

Political career

From 1951 to 1963 Lorentzen was a member of Hammerfest's local parliament. In 1969 she moved into the Norwegian Parliament, the Storting , for the first time . There she represented the province of Finnmark until 1977 . On October 16, 1973 she was appointed Minister of Transport in the Bratteli II government. She held the office until January 15, 1976 and moved to the Ministry of Consumers and Administration in the new Nordli government . She held the post of minister there until January 11, 1978.

In 1978 she became the Norwegian ambassador to Iceland , which she remained until 1985. In 1981 she received the Grand Cross ( Stórkross ) of the Icelandic Order of Falcons .

Private

Lorentzen is the mother of the two Norwegian athletes Harald and Reidar Lorentzen . The latter competed as a javelin thrower at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles . Her granddaughter is the former ballet dancer and head of the ballet department at Den Norske Opera & Ballet , Ingrid Lorentzen .
