Annette Dabs (* 1961 in Lübeck ) is a German theater and opera director and cultural manager . Since 1997 she has headed the German Forum for Puppet Theater and Puppetry (dfp) and thus the international puppet theater festival Fidena ( Puppet Theater of Nations ).

Life

Annette Dabs was born in Lübeck in 1961. She studied musical theater directing at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Hamburg and then switched to acting. In addition to assistant director at the stages of the Hanseatic City of Lübeck and with Peter Zadek at the Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg , she worked on a book project with Johannes Grützke . This was followed by a degree in cultural management at the University of Music and Theater in Hamburg, after which she worked as a personal advisor to the cultural department in Kassel.

Annette Dabs directed at the Schauspiel Essen , at the Schauspielhaus Bochum , at various city theaters and in the independent scene. Since 1997 she has been the managing director and artistic director of the German Forum for Puppet Theater in Bochum and artistic director of the international festival Fidena (Puppet Theater of Nations ). She was Vice President of UNIMA ( Union Internationale de la Marionnette ), President of the Unima Commission for International Festivals and is Member of the German Center of the ITI ( International Theater Institute ). She is the bearer of the ring of honor of the city of Bochum and received the honor award of the Bochum Marketing Club.
