Annette M. Böckler

Annette Mirjam Böckler (born June 26, 1966 in Remscheid ) has been Head of Judaism at the Zurich Institute for Interreligious Dialogue since May 2017 . From April 2007 to April 2017 she was librarian and lecturer in the Bible and Jewish liturgy at Leo Baeck College in London .

biography

After studying Protestant theology in Tübingen, Bern, Bonn and Wuppertal, Annette M. Böckler passed her first theological exam in March 1993 and was accepted into the church preparatory service as a vicar on April 1, 1993. In March 1995 she passed the second theological exam of the Evangelical Church in the Rhineland. In 1996 she was accepted into the church service as a pastor. On February 2, 1997, she was ordained as pastor of the Evangelical Church in the Rhineland (EKiR) in the parish Unterbarmen- Mitte (Wuppertal) . Until September 1998 she worked full-time at the Church University of Wuppertal , at times as a vicariate assistant. On October 1, 1998, she was dismissed from the church service (last position: "Pastor in auxiliary service with a special scientific assignment"). In February 2000 she completed her doctorate in the Old Testament at the Church of Wuppertal University on "God as Father" (Gütersloh 2nd edition 2002). In 2001 she converted to Judaism . From 2000 to 2002 she headed the office of the Jüdische Verlagsanstalt Berlin , from 2003 to 2004 she was a research assistant at the Rabbinical Seminar Abraham-Geiger-Kolleg , Potsdam, where she taught Hebrew, Talmud and Jewish liturgy. From 2004 to 2007 she was a research assistant for the Bible and Jewish interpretation of the Bible at the University for Jewish Studies in Heidelberg . Her areas of work are the literary analysis of biblical texts, the reception of the Bible in the Jewish liturgy and the literary analysis of the Jewish prayer book .

She is the translator of the Seder haTefillot prayer book (Gütersloh 1997). She also translated other liturgical texts, such as the Haggadah , ed. by Michael Shire and Birkat Hamason . She translated and edited the Torah commentary by Rabbi W. Gunther Plaut (Gütersloh 1999-2004, new edition 2008). She was editor of the Jewish calendar Through the Jewish Year , which has been published by the Jewish Publishing House Berlin since 2001 . She has served as a Chasanit in various liberal and conservative communities since 2004 .
