Political party

Annette Sawade has been a member of the SPD since 1990. From 1991 to 2009 she was a member of the executive committee of the SPD local association Sillenbuch-Riedenberg, including from 1998 to 2008 as chairwoman. Sawade worked from 1999 to 2001 as deputy district chairman of the SPD Stuttgart . After Sawade was nominated by the SPD in the Schwäbisch Hall-Hohenlohe constituency as a candidate for the Bundestag, she was also elected deputy chairwoman of the SPD in the Schwäbisch Hall district in 2009. Since 2010 she has been chairwoman of the Working Group of Social Democratic Women (ARSP) for the Schwäbisch Hall and Hohenlohe districts. Sawade has also been a member of the SPD state executive committee for Baden-Württemberg since 2009.

Within the SPD, Sawade's commitment applies particularly to the Social Democratic Community for Local Politics (SGK). After she was elected to the SGK state board of Baden-Württemberg in 1997, she has held office since 2003 both as deputy SGK state chairwoman and as deputy SGK federal chairwoman.

Sawade's candidacy for the German Bundestag in 2009 was initially unsuccessful, as her position on the list at the time did not lead to a mandate.

MPs

From 1994 to 2009 Sawade was a member of the Stuttgart City Council and was deputy parliamentary group leader for the past five years.

On June 1, 2012, Sawade succeeded Nicolette Kressl , who had resigned from her mandate, to the Bundestag. She was a full member of the Committee for Transport and Digital Infrastructure , where she was the rapporteur for the Baden-Württemberg Federal Transport Infrastructure Plan and for her parliamentary group for traffic noise from rail, road and water. In addition, she was a member of the Petitions Committee , where she was the deputy spokesperson for the Petition Working Group and chairwoman of the municipal subcommittee.

In the 2017 federal election , the SPD did not have enough votes to maintain its mandate via the state list. As a direct candidate for the Schwäbisch Hall - Hohenlohe constituency, she was also defeated by her CDU opponent Christian von Stetten .
