Ansegisel

Ansegisel (also Ansegisal, Ansegise, Anchise, Ansguise , * around 610; † after 657, but before 679) was a son of Bishop Arnulf of Metz . He was the great-great-grandfather of Charlemagne .

Ansegisel married Begga , the daughter of the Australian house master Pippin the Elder , and thus brought together the power and wealth of his family, the Arnulfinger , and the family of his wife, the Pippiniden , after the alliances between the two groups had already been considerable for the Merovingian kings in the past Had brought problems and disadvantages. Ansegisel was mentioned around 662 with the title of a domesticus . He was slain by his enemies before 679. His grave is not known.
