Saint Begga of Heristal (Herstal), of Landen , of Andenne , of Brabant , of Metz and of Austrasia (* around 620; † December 17, 692, 693 or 695) was the daughter of the Frankish housekeeper Pippins the Elder and the Itta or Iduberga . She was the grandmother of Karl Martell , the grandfather of Charlemagne .

She married Ansegisel of Metz-Austrasia, the son of Bishop Arnulf of Metz from the Arnulfinger family , and thus strengthened the alliance that had already existed between the two families. Her son was the later house manager Pippin the Middle , who was able to unite the power and property of the Arnulfinger and Pippiniden .

Begga founded the Andenne monastery on the Meuse between Namur and Liège in 690/691, shortly before her death . She was buried in Andenne on the Meuse.
