The 1958/59 season of the ice hockey Bundesliga was the first season of the newly founded highest German ice hockey league , which replaced the league as the highest division. German champion was EV Füssen , which won its eighth championship title and was able to continue its dominance from the last league years. The first relegated companies were Düsseldorfer EG and SC Weßling , which were replaced by VfL Bad Nauheim and ESV Kaufbeuren .

For the first Bundesliga season, the four best-placed teams in the major leagues North and South of the 1957/58 season qualified . The SC Weßling was merged with the ice hockey department of TSV 1880 Starnberg and entered as EG Weßling-Starnberg.
