Anselm Franz (aviation pioneer)
Anselm Franz (born January 21, 1900 in Schladming , Austria ; † November 18, 1994 in Bridgeport (Connecticut) ) was the head of advanced development for flow machines at Junkers Flugzeug- und Motorenwerke from 1939 to 1942. He was instrumental in the development of the first production-ready jet engine , the Jumo 004 , involved, the z. B. by the jet fighter Messerschmitt Me 262 and the reconnaissance aircraft and bomber Arado Ar 234 was used.
After the end of the Second World War , Anselm Franz went to the USA to continue researching his projects and ideas. Before he retired, he was vice chairman of AVCO Lycoming .

- 1991: Great Gold Medal of Honor with the Star for Services to the Republic of Austria
