Anselm Zeller

Anselm Zeller OSB (born July 20, 1938 in Kaiserslautern ) is a Benedictine abbot and emeritus abbot of St. Georgenberg-Fiecht Abbey in Tyrol .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1958, Zeller studied theology and philosophy at the Ordenshochschule Sankt Ottilien and at the University of Munich and graduated in catechetics and religious education in 1965 . He entered the Archabbey of Sankt Ottilien , took the religious name Anselm, made his profession on September 21, 1959 and was ordained a priest on August 22, 1965.

He taught at the Stefan-George-Gymnasium in Bingen and was Prior of the Jakobsberg Priory from 1978 to 1991 . In 1991 he was sent to the mission to Tigoni, Kenya , and was master novice there before he was elected abbot on April 15, 1996. On July 13, 1996 he was designated by Reinhold Stecher . His motto is: Mundo lux - light for the world . On December 1, 2014, he resigned from office for reasons of age.
