Anselmo Bucci (* May 1887 in Fossombrone ; † November 19, 1955 in Monza ) was an Italian painter , graphic artist and writer and one of the founders of the Novecento art direction .

Life

Anselmo Bucci is one of the founders of the Novecento art movement . It was intended as an alternative to hectic futurism and was intended to initiate a “return to order”, calm, tranquility and more objectivity. This art movement comes from an initiative of Margherita Sarfatti , a lover of Benito Mussolini , who founded the Gruppo in 1922 together with the gallery owner Lino Pesaro and Anselmo Bucci and the other artists Leonardo Dudreville , Achille Funi , Gian-Emilio Malerba , Pietro Marussig , Ubaldo Oppi and Mario Sironi del Novecento and presented her works for the first time in 1923 at the Pesaro Gallery in Milan . She countered the accusation of other artists that Sarfatti was trying to establish his own fascist art movement with this group by inviting all the important painters and sculptors in Italy to participate in the next major exhibition.
