Ansgar Nünning

Ansgar F. Nünning (born June 4, 1959 in Mettingen ) is a German English scholar and literary scholar .

Life

Nünning studied English, history and education at the University of Cologne from 1979 to 1985 and taught at the English seminar there from 1985. In 1989 he received his doctorate and in 1994 his habilitation. In 1996 he accepted an appointment at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen as a professor of English and American literature and cultural studies. He is married to Vera Nünning .

Act

Nünning mainly publishes works on English literature from the 17th to the 20th century. Another focus of his research is literary and cultural theory ( narratology , new historicism , gender studies , history of mentality , comparative imagology , radical constructivism ).

Ansgar Nünning was awarded the “ Excellence in Teaching ” prize worth 30,000 euros in 2007 for his structured offer for literary and cultural studies doctoral training at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen. He is the director of the International Graduate Center for the Study of Culture (GCSC).
