Excellence in teaching

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Excellence in Teaching Prize was one of the most highly endowed science prizes in Germany.

The aim of the award was to recognize, develop and implement future-oriented teaching concepts and innovative examination methods. Criteria for excellence in teaching were, in addition to commitment, research-relatedness, university didactic know-how and the ability to work in a team. Awards were given to the development and introduction of new curricula and the successful use of teaching and learning materials, as well as innovative advice and support concepts.

The prize was awarded annually by the State of Hesse , represented by the Hessian Ministry for Science and Art, and the non-profit Hertie Foundation . The prize was awarded for the first time in 2007. The total funding amount of 375,000 euros was divided into prize money from the Hessian Ministry of Science and Art amounting to 250,000 euros and 125,000 euros from the Hertie Foundation.

In 2014, the Hertie Foundation withdrew from funding. The prize is no longer awarded.
