Manincor residence

The Manincor residence was built in 1608 by Hieronymus Manincor Ehrenhausen. It is located in the municipality of Kaltern in South Tyrol on the SP 14 road between Kaltern Dorf and Lake Kaltern . Today a winery is operated there.

history

As an award for his services to Austria, Hieronymus Manincor received properties on Lake Caldaro as a gift from the then emperor. He was also raised to the nobility. In 1608 he built the residence including a chapel. The “Man-in-cor” (“Hand on Heart”) coat of arms, which was expanded in his honor, can still be seen on the south facade above the entrance. In 1662, through the marriage of Hieronymus Manincor's granddaughter, there was a first connection with the family of the Counts of Enzenberg . In 1978 the manor finally became the property of the Counts of Enzenberg, who still manage it today.

Architectural features

The input consists of a round arch with Rustika columns. The windows are stone-framed and partially coupled. On the ground floor there is a hall with a vaulted ceiling. The room is equipped with a field ceiling . The chapel has a stucco ceiling from the 18th century.

Todays use

In 1991 the current owner, Michael Graf Goëss-Enzenberg, took over the residence with the associated wineries from his uncle. By building his own winery designed by Walter Angonese , he was able to set up his own wine production instead of delivering the harvest to the surrounding cooperative wineries. Today the Manincor winery with 50 hectares is the largest winery in South Tyrol that exclusively uses its own grapes.
