Oberpayrsberg residence
The Oberpayrsberg residence is a noble residence in Bolzano surrounded by vineyards . It is located on Oswaldweg. It has been a listed building since 1953.
The house was originally an Augsburg manor and was first mentioned at the end of the 13th century. Later it came into the hands of Boymont - Payrsberg , who converted it into a residence around 1571 . The house passed to the Bozen family Niedertor through marriage. Above the entrance gate there is an alliance coat of arms Payrsberg-Niedertor with the year 1571. The Ulrichs and Afra chapel, consecrated in 1487, still shows late Gothic structures. The house was later divided into Ober- and Unterpayrsberg . The von Braitenberg family has owned the residence since the end of the 19th century.
The Oberpayrsberg archive was given to the South Tyrolean regional archive as a deposit in 1987 by the von Braitenberg family . It primarily documents the property and legal title of the Boymont-Payrsberg, Niedertor, Gerstl and Weineck families. Next 655 The collection includes documents from the period 1204 to 1774 some 230 manuscripts and official records and documentary material (including early Urbare , invoices, wine registers, inventories , correspondence, documents relating to inheritances and marriage contracts ). The southern part of the residence was hit by an aerial bomb during the Second World War and rebuilt with a modernized facade .
