Ansonia is a genus of the frogs from the toad family(Bufonidae). The species of the genus are common in South and Southeast Asia.
description
The species of the genus Ansonia belong to the small toads and have a head-trunk length of 20 to around 45 millimeters. The males usually stay smaller than the females. Although they appear typically toad-like due to their numerous warts and the large ear glands , they have a slimmer and flatter shape in contrast to the plump physique of many other toad species. These are adaptations to life in the current of fast flowing mountain streams. The same adaptations can also be observed in the larvae of the frogs. They are also flattened and can hold onto stones with special organs.
