Anta is a place and a former municipality ( freguesia ) in northern Portugal .
Anta is part of the county Espinho in Aveiro District . The community had an area of 6 km² and 10,372 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011). The place was raised on May 27, 1993 to Vila (German: small town ).
On September 29, 2013, the municipalities of Anta and Guetim were merged to form the new municipality of União das Freguesias de Anta e Guetim . Anta is the seat of this newly formed community.
