Antanas Klimavičius

Antanas Klimavičius (born July 15, 1949 in the Rajongemeinde Alytus ) is a Lithuanian lawyer , judge of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Lithuania , former Attorney General of Lithuania (2000-2005).

Life

After graduating from middle school Klimavičius completed his degree in 1976 studying law at the University of Vilnius . He then worked in the prosecutor's office of the Rajons Kapsukas (now Marijampole ). From 1977 to 1980 he worked in the Lithuanian Public Prosecutor's Office for Transport and then until 1993 in the Vilnius Public Prosecutor's Office as an investigator . From 1993 to 1995 he was Senior Public Prosecutor of the Organized Crime Investigation Department (ONKTS) at the Vilnius Public Prosecutor's Office, then until 1998 in the same position at the Vilnius District Public Prosecutor's Office.

From 1998 to 2000 he headed the Department of Interrogation of the Secret Service ( Specialiųjų tyrimų tarnyba ). He was then attorney general until 2005 . In July 2005 he was appointed judge at the Supreme Court of Lithuania (lit. Lietuvos Aukščiausiasis Teismas ).
