Antanas Merčaitis

Antanas Juozas Merčaitis (born February 5, 1936 in Giedručiai , Rajongemeinde Šakiai ) is a Lithuanian statistician and politician, Vice Minister .

Life

After graduating from secondary school, he graduated from the Vilniaus universitetas with a diploma in economics in 1959 and received his doctorate in 1967 on the subject of " Reproduction of the Inhabitants of Soviet Lithuania " and became a candidate in economics . From 1957 to 1958 he worked at VU, from 1959 to 1973 as a university professor, from 1967 to 1969 Vice Dean of the Faculty of Economics, from 1970 to 1973 head of the chair for statistics , from 1970 lecturer. From 1985 to 1990 he worked as vice-chairman of the State Planning Committee. From 1990 to 1994 he was Deputy Minister of Economy, from 1994 to 1996 Secretary at the Ministry of Economy of Lithuania , from 1997 to 2000 Ministry Secretary, from 2000 to 2003 consultant. He did research in the field of demography .
