The Antenna Island ( Japanese ア ン テ ナ ナ 島 Antena-jima , English Antenna Island ) is a small island off the coast of the East Antarctic Queen Maud Land . It belongs to the Flatvær archipelago and is located on the east side of the entrance to Lützow-Holm Bay , halfway between the island of Nesøya and the East Ongul island .
The island was mapped on the basis of measurements and aerial photographs of a Japanese Antarctic expedition in 1957. It is named after the radio antennas installed on this island that belong to the Shōwa station .
