Anthony Lobello (born August 15, 1984 in Tallahassee ) is an Italian short tracker , speed skater and inline speed skater from the USA .

Initially, Lobello ran speed skating before switching to inline speed skating shortly afterwards . At the age of 15 he already had international class there and started in 2001 in Valence d'Agen at the Junior World Championships in inline speed skating. Here he won the 5000 m relay relay with Jordan Malone and Steve Krawulski and won the silver medal in the 500 m road sprint. After leaving the US national inline skating team and finishing school that same year, Lobello studied at Northern Michigan University .

In January 2004 he started the short track sport and went to the junior world championship in Beijing. There he had less success, however, with the relay his race ended in the semifinals, in the other disciplines even earlier.

In the following season 2004/05 Lobello started in no major short track event, only at the Olympic Winter Games 2006 in Turin he returned as the youngest member of the US American short track squad around Apolo Anton Ohno in the international competitions. Although he was eliminated in the preliminary run at his only Olympic appearance over 500 meters, he was also nominated for the team and individual world championships in 2006, where he also did not reach an individual final. He only succeeded in this with the relay and there he even won the bronze medal.

In December 2006, Lobello started his next sport, speed skating . At the American championships he reached seventh place in the sprint four-way fight, the winner was Kip Carpenter . Nevertheless, he decided to continue short track starts this season, so that he took part in the Short Track World Cup for the first time and achieved ninth place over 500 meters as the best result. In addition, he achieved top 10 results with the relay, but not a podium.

Although he took part in the 2007 World Cup, he did not achieve good placements. The 2007/08 season was for Lobello without international short track starts, only in speed skating he took part again in the American championships and the time trials , in the latter he even won the 1,500 m race.

He started the 2008/09 Short Track World Cup with his first podium in the World Cup when he finished second in the second 1000 m race. Otherwise he achieved further top 10 placements by the end of November 2008. With the relay he celebrated his first World Cup victory, as well as a second place.

In May 2012, Lobello, who has Italian ancestry, was granted Italian citizenship (in addition to US citizenship). He was part of the Italian national team from the start of the 2012/13 World Cup season.
