Antimaniax (also written: Anti Maniax ; abbreviation: AMX ) is a punk band from Graz in Austria .
history
The band was founded in 1998 by Georg, Hansi, Chris and the drummer Tom Prietl. Then Tom 20er joined the band and Tom Prietl got out with guitarist Hansi Steiner in the spring of 2000 and drummer Tom was replaced by Candy from Klagenfurt (in addition to Antimaniax, Beatbrats, The Staggers , Candy Beat Camp, Springy Pinestix and Leftover Crack ). In 2000 the band released their first demo We're Tryin ' and sold it on shows on tours through Central and Eastern Europe. In 2002 the first EP As Long as People Think was released on the British punk and hardcore punk label Household Name Records in London . In 2002 the band played over 100 concerts to present the album. They toured the United Kingdom and Eastern Europe three times.
They are also known for their energetic shows where band members often surf through the audience with guitar cases. In 2003 the band continued their tour through Europe (including Leftover Crack and F-Minus ). Candy and Georg then went to the USA to tour with F-Minus and Leftover Crack and record albums. The second EP I'm Without Sleep in this Desert of Concrete was released on Household Name Records that same year. Bassist Chris leaves the band and forms The Plague Mass , where he plays guitar and sings. For him comes Daniel, who previously played in the Austrian hardcore band Sadirrity .
In 2005 the band toured again through Eastern Europe (including Against Me! And Ass End Offend ) and followed by a tour through the UK, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic and Germany (including Halfprice from South Africa). In the same year, the band began working on their new album, which this time will be full-length and will be called "Dark Deadly Fumes". However, the completion has been delayed a little, as the bassist Daniel left the band in January 2006 and they are still looking for a new bassist. Despite rumors, the band has definitely not split up, although the status of the band can at least be classified as "uncertain" due to the long drawn-out bass player search.
style
The band's musical style cannot be described as pure punk . The band blends ska , hardcore punk and punk rock elements together. Her style can best be described as a mixture of Leftover Crack, Propagandhi , Operation Ivy and sometimes Rancid are referred -Gekrächze.
