Antirrhinum graniticum a plant is art from the genus of snapdragons ( Antirrhinum ) in the family of plantain plants (Plantaginaceae).

description

Antirrhinum graniticum is a perennial , herbaceous plant whose upright to ascending and sometimes twisting stems reach heights of growth of up to 120 cm. The plant is usually completely hairy glandular. The leaves that are mostly opposite at the bottom and mostly alternate at the top are 15 to 50 mm long and 3 to 12 (rarely up to 20) mm wide. Their shape is ovoid to elongated-lanceolate.

The bracts are 3 to 10 mm long. The flower stalks are 3 to 15 mm long and are usually longer than the bracts. The calyx is covered with (rarely only 5 to) 7 to 10 mm long, egg-shaped and almost pointed calyx tips. The crown is (rarely only 22 to) 25 to 32 mm long and colored purple or whitish with a yellow palate.

The fruits are elongated, glandular hairy capsules with a length of 8 to 10 mm.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 16 or 24.

Occurrence and locations

The species occurs in the center and south of Spain and in the north and center of Portugal . It grows on rocks and walls and on stony mountain slopes and avoids lime.

Systematics

One can distinguish three subspecies:

  • Antirrhinum graniticum subsp. boissieri (Rothm.) Valdés : It occurs in Spain and Portugal.
  • Antirrhinum graniticum subsp. graniticum
  • Antirrhinum graniticum subsp. onubensis (Fern. Casas) Valdés : It occurs in Spain.
