Antisect is a punk band founded in 1982 in Daventry , which belongs to the genres of anarcho , hardcore and crust punk . The group deals with issues such as animal rights and social justice .

history

Antisect were founded in 1982 by Pete Boyce (vocals), Pete Lyons (guitar, vocals), Renusze Rokicki (bass) and Pete Paluskiewicz (drums). The band lived partly as squatters or on the street. The band was soon signed to the Spiderleg Records label, founded by the anarcho-punk band Flux of Pink Indians . Antisect released their first album, In Darkness There Is No Choice , in 1983. It reached 20th place in the British indie charts and is now considered a punk classic.

The 1985 EP Out from the Void reached second place in the charts and is next to Arise! seen by Amebix as the starting point of crust punk. Although the band had already started recording their second album, Welcome to the New Dark Ages , it was never completed. However, some of the songs were included in the live albums Peace Is Better Than a Place in History and Leeds 04/02/86 . In 1987 the group separated after five years of existence.

In 2011 the reunion Antisects was announced on the band's website and the new line-up , consisting of Tim Andrews (vocals), Pete Lyons (guitar, vocals), Laurence Windle (bass) and Joe Burwood (drums) was presented. The band toured the UK, USA and Europe, among others. A new single, Minutes Past Midnight / Out from the Void (Part 2) was also released in 2011 . In the same year, the debut album In Darkness There Is No Choice was re-released on Anti Society Records .
