Antoine Aymard

Antoine Aymard (born October 13, 1773 in Lézignan-Corbières , † April 20, 1861 in Paris ) was a French Général de division of the infantry and since September 30, 1832 Lieutenant-General .

Life

Aymard joined the army when he was just 19 years old. He was distinguished by bravery and was promoted by General Louis-Charles de Flers . During Napoleon's Italian campaign , General Amédée Emmanuel Laharpe fell in the Battle of Lodi on May 10, 1796, and Aymard was appointed his successor while still on the battlefield.

At the age of over 87, Antoine Aymard died on April 20, 1861 in Paris and found his final resting place there.

His son Édouard Aymard (1820–1880) also embarked on a military career and was u. a. 1878 military governor of Paris .
