Louis-Charles de Flers

Louis-Charles de Flers , actually Louis-Charles de La Motte-Ango, vicomte de Flers (born June 12, 1754 in Paris , † July 22, 1794 ibid) was a French Général de division.

Life

De Flers was a son of Ange Hyacinthe Ango de La Motte-Ango, comte de Flers (1719-1788) and his wife Marie Madeleine Charlotte de Chertemps de Seuil, comtesse de Reaux (1722-1775).

De Flers joined the royal army as a cadet at a very young age and was enthusiastic about the ideals of the revolution from an early age . During the Revolutionary Wars he was able to prove himself and was also promoted very quickly; In 1791 he became Maréchal de camp . Under the orders of General Charles-François Dumouriez , De Flers was stationed in Fort de Maulde and seriously wounded in its defense.

After his recovery he returned to Dumouriez with the rank of division commander and fought a. a. at Jemappes (November 6, 1792) Neer winds (March 18, 1793). After his time in the Austrian Netherlands , De Flers was transferred to southern France and Spain to wage the Pyrenees War there. De Flers fought a. a. at Mas Deu (May 19, 1793) and Peyrestortes (September 17, 1793) and was involved in the siege of Le Perthus (→ Fort de Bellegarde ).

In July 1793 he was u. a. involved in the siege of Perpignan and was again able to distinguish himself through bravery. When Spanish troops captured Villefranche-de-Conflent on August 4th of the same year , the Welfare Committee took this as an opportunity to arrest him. De Flers was brought to Paris and charged with high treason . Until his trial by the Revolutionary Tribunal , he was imprisoned in the Palais du Luxembourg . In July 1794, De Flers was found guilty in a show trial and was guillotine on July 22 ; Maximilien de Robespierre , the lead operator of this judgment, was guillotined on July 28 of that year .

De Flers was married to Maximilienne Albertine de Lattre-Neuville and had two children with her: Guillemine Aline (* 1787) and Charles Amédée (1789-1857).
