Antoine Béclère

Antoine Louis Gustave Béclère (born March 17, 1856 in Paris , † February 24, 1939 there ) was a French pediatrician , radiologist and immunobiologist .

In 1877, Béclère began his career as a volunteer in Lille. Béclère studied medicine in Paris, where he received his doctorate in 1882. He caused a stir with work on infectious diseases such as measles and immunity issues. When he found out about X-rays in 1896 , he enthusiastically turned to radiology . That is why he immediately founded a clinic for X-ray examinations in Paris.

From 1902, the X-ray therapy of malignant tumors became his main field of work, and he was soon able to show success against tumors in the breast, uterus and brain.

In 1908 he became a member of the Académie de Médecine.

During the First World War he worked as the head of the physiotherapy laboratory at the Val-de-Grâce military hospital and the radiology department of the Paris military government.
