Antoine Craan

M. Antoine Craan (born January 17, 1931 in Port-au-Prince , Haiti ; † January 12, 2010 ibid) was a Haitian- Canadian professional footballer.

Antoine Craan was born in Port-au-Prince; in 1955 he moved to Montréal and played from then on for the club "Le Tricolore de Montréal". Craan was one of the first two dark-skinned professional footballers in the province of Québec . In the 1960s he took up a job in the provincial football association, later he mainly worked in referee training.

In the 1980s, Craan found what is known as Raelism and was later ordained a priest of this religion. Craan, a father of seven, lived in Montréal until the mid-1990s before returning to his homeland to work in a senior position for the Haitian Football Association. He married a second time. On January 12, 2010, he was killed by falling debris in his office in the great earthquake . His wife and stepdaughter Mihalove also fell victim to the earthquake and were buried in a cemetery near his office.
