Anton A. Bucher (born September 21, 1960 in Altbüron ) is a Swiss Roman Catholic theologian , educator and book author. He teaches practical theology at the University of Salzburg .

His main focus is on scientific research into the psychology of spirituality and religiosity . His central research questions are: How do people learn to believe today? What do people believe today?

Life

After graduating from high school in 1980 and attending recruit school , Anton Bucher studied theology and education at the University of Freiburg (Friborg, Switzerland) from 1981 to 1986 , with Christoph Schönborn , among others . In 1986/87 he worked as a research assistant at the Pedagogical Institute of the University of Freiburg. From 1987 to 1990 he was an academic assistant at the seminar for religious education at the University of Mainz , where he also received his doctorate and habilitation for religious education in 1990 . From 1990 to 1993 he was part of the head of the educational center for religious and biblical instruction in the canton of Lucerne , while at the same time he was a research assistant at the University of Friborg. Since 1993 Bucher has been a full professor for religious education at the University of Salzburg. In 2000, he completed his habilitation in educational science at the University of Freiburg . From 2004 to 2006 he was Dean of the Catholic Theological Faculty of the University of Salzburg.

Bucher has been married since 1981 and has six children.
