Anton Anton (born December 22, 1949 in Timișoara ) is a Romanian politician and engineer. From January 29, 2018 to October 10, 2019, he was energy minister in the Dăncilă cabinet .

Life

After finishing school, Anton attended the Timișoara Polytechnic University and in 1972 earned the degree of engineer. This was followed by a two-year postgraduate course in computer science and mathematics at the University of Bucharest . After receiving a scholarship from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore in 1977, he went to the Bucharest Building Institute. In 1986 he received his doctorate at the Institute of Civil Engineering (today Technical University of Civil Engineering ) in Bucharest. In 1995 he joined the Partidul Național Liberal . In the same year he also became a professor at the Technical University and was also head of the hydraulics laboratory until 2003.

The author and holder of several patents was a member of various associations. From 2005 to 2006 he was State Secretary in the Ministry of Education and then President of the National Agency for Scientific Research until October 2008. In the Tăriceanu II cabinet , Anton was Minister of Education, Research and Youth until December 22, 2008. Anton later switched to Alianța Liberalilor și Democraților . In the parliamentary elections in 2016 he came to the Chamber of Deputies for the ALDE parliamentary group .
