Anton August Graf von Attems-Gilleis (born May 6, 1834 in Hausambacher , † December 9, 1891 in Vienna ) was an Austrian KuK treasurer and member of the House of Representatives of the Austrian Imperial Council .

Life

Anton August Graf von Attems-Gilleis was born as the son of Hermann Eduard Graf von Attems (1800–1874) and Leopoldine Freiin von Gilleis (1807–1875), Lady of the Cross . He married on July 8, 1858 in the parish church to the Scots Maria Countess zu Hardegg (1836-1906), the older sister of the future Prince Grand Prior Fra 'Rudolf zu Hardegg on Glatz and in the Machlande (1851-1939).

He served as an active officer in the Imperial and Royal Cuirassier Regiment No. 7 and resigned as a first lieutenant. He inherited Schrattenthal Castle , which the family had acquired in 1803 . His sons were Count Maximilian von Attems-Gilleis , Count Hermann von Attems-Heiligenkreuz and Count Karl Anton von Attems-Heiligenkreuz, his daughter was Franziska Xaveria (1861-1893), married to Count Karl Lanckoroński .

As a member of the large estates in the Reichsrat , he originally belonged to the conservative-clerical-feudal group, but voted with those who were loyal to the constitution. He was therefore able to hold his mandate in 1871 even under constitutional superiority in large estates and was re-elected to the Reichsrat in 1873 under the power of the curia .

In the course of the founders' crash of the 1870s, Anton August lost property and Schrattenthal Castle. He had taken full guarantee for his friend Ludwig Karl Wilhelm von Gablenz . From 1870 until 1880 he was a member of the Lower Austrian Landtag . On November 9th, 1890 he received from the emperor ad personam the right to name and coat of arms association Graf Attems-Gilleis . Anton August was also right to dispose of that coming from his mother's family Gilleis'schen Fideikommiss and the rule Therasburg .
