Anton Butscheidt

Anton Butscheidt (also Anton Butscheid ; * April 2, 1878 ; † June 16, 1949 ) was a German architect and civil engineer who worked mainly in his hometown of Bonn .

Life

Butscheidt was trained at the Düsseldorf School of Applied Arts . From 1903 he ran a bureau for architecture and construction together with his brother Jean , which at times also included a sand pit and brick factory. Around 1912 he separated from his brother. From 1933/34 Butscheidt called himself a master builder . He can be regarded as one of the more important architects of Art Nouveau in Bonn, in particular the Südstadt as one of the largest preserved Wilhelminian style residential areas in Germany. His semi-detached house Rittershausstraße 26/28 , which was partly built for himself and from which the architecture office was run (No. 28), has one of the most striking Art Nouveau facades in Bonn.

Anton Butscheidt was married to Adèle Bürger. Her daughter Erna Agnès Butscheidt (1907–1997) married the Maastricht engineer Joseph Fréderic Eduard Regout (1888–1971), manager of the ceramic manufacturer "Sphinx" , in 1951 .
