Anton Giulio Barrili

Antonio "Anton" Giulio Barrili (born December 14, 1836 in Savona , † August 14, 1908 in Carcare , Savona province) was an Italian novelist .

life and work

Anton Barilli took part in the campaign of 1859 , in the battles of Garibaldi in Tyrol in 1866 and in the Roman expedition in 1867. He had been working as a journalist since the age of 18 and took over the management of the Movimento at a very young age and became the owner and editor of a Genoese Journals called Il Caffaro .

Barrili was one of the most prolific novelists in Italy at that time, whose products are characterized by lively presentation, freshness of sensation and a touch of fine irony. Among his novels are particularly praised:

  • Capitan Dodero and above all

His novel Semiramide transports the reader to ancient Babylon, Il merlo bianco to Japan. Berrili also published a small volume of freshly written letters from Paris under the title Lutezia (Milan 1878) and the political treatise Ritratti contemporanei: Cavour , Bismarck , Thiers (Milan 1878).
