Anton Rüther (born November 25, 1951 ) is a former German soccer player .
Career
The striker Anton Rüther began his career at Grün-Weiß Steinhausen from Büren in the Paderborn district . In the summer of 1973 he moved to Arminia Bielefeld in the regional league for a transfer fee of 10,000 marks . With the Bielefeld team, Rüther qualified a year later for the newly created 2nd Bundesliga . Anton Rüther made his second division debut on August 3, 1974 in a 1-1 draw against Borussia Dortmund . It was the first of the striker's nine second division appearances. In the summer of 1975 he left Bielefeld with an unknown destination and later played for FC Gohfeld .
After his football career, Anton Rüther worked as a Latin, sports and geography teacher and taught at the Aldegrever-Gymnasium in Soest .
