Anton Robert Leinweber , Czech Robert Antonín Leinweber (born February 7, 1845 in Bohemian Leipa , Kingdom of Bohemia , † December 21, 1921 in Munich ), was a German painter and illustrator of Czech descent.

Life

Born the son of a secondary school teacher, Leinweber studied engineering in Prague and Vienna, which he did not complete. During his studies in 1863 he became a member of the Vienna academic fraternity of Olympia , from which he was expelled in 1864. Then he went to the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich to study painting; and to Prague and the Academy of Fine Arts in Dresden .

He spent many years in North Africa, particularly in Tunisia. Together with Philip Grot Johann and Hermann Vogel, he created illustrations for the children's and house fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm . Leinweber also created numerous Bible illustrations.
