Anton Schroll

Anton Schroll (born May 30, 1854 in Bielitz , Austrian Silesia, † November 7, 1919 in Graz ) was an Austrian publisher .

Life

Anton Schroll, son of a Protestant pastor, learned the bookselling trade in Austria, Germany and Switzerland. On January 17, 1884, he and Paul Krebs from Berlin founded the publishing house Anton Schroll & Co. as a partner . In 1899, Krebs left the publishing house. The publishing house soon became one of the leading art book publishers and was particularly important for the propagation of Viennese Art Nouveau . Anton Schroll retired from managing the publishing house in 1913. The publishing house was then partially owned by the Reisser family of printers and publishers, and in 1931 completely .
