Anton Strohmayer
Anton Strohmayer (born January 25, 1848 in Vienna ; † December 20, 1937 there ) was a member of the legendary Schrammel Quartet .
He received guitar lessons from his father Alois (1822–1890). As a boy, like Johann (Hans) and Josef Schrammel, his father took him to the restaurants to play. For the first time he played in the “Green Hunter” in Vienna's Prater . 1862 with Schrammel senior, Hans and Josef at Herzig's in Hernals . And from 1866 was in an ensemble with Dänzer and Turnofsky. Anton Strohmayer was the best guitar player of the time, also played the violin and was able to play the "picksüße Hölzl" (G clarinet). He became famous and known as the accompanist to the Schrammel brothers' “magic violins”, where he intoned the bass with the double-necked guitar.
His honorary grave is in the Dornbacher Friedhof in Vienna (group 30, number 45).
