Political activity

Anton Türtscher, born in Schoppernau in the Bregenz Forest in 1933 , moved with his family to Sonntag in the Grosses Walsertal in 1942 . On Sunday he finally became politically active for the first time as a community representative and from 1979 on as vice mayor. As early as 1966, Türtscher had previously been elected chairman of the farmers' union in his home community and from 1971 he held the office of chamber councilor in the Vorarlberg Chamber of Agriculture . As of May 19, 1983 represented Türtscher as MP for the ÖVP Vorarlberg the provincial constituency Vorarlberg in the National Council . After almost three years, Anton Türtscher left it again on March 28, 1986. He declared his resignation because of a personal conflict of interest that had been triggered by a law that would have forbidden farmers to sell milk directly from the farm and that Türtscher could not support.

After his return to Vorarlberg, Anton Türtscher was brought into the state government by Governor Martin Purtscher in 1988 . On October 11, 1988, Türtscher replaced his predecessor Konrad Blank and became Regional Councilor for Agricultural Affairs and Environmental Protection. After five years in the state government, Anton Türtscher left this office voluntarily on October 6, 1993 at the age of 60. Erich Schwärzler was his successor as regional councilor .
