Anton Waller

Anton Waller (born April 11, 1861 in Neumugl near Marienbad ; † May 10, 1934 in Roßbach / Westerwald ) was a German painter .

Life

Anton Waller (full name Georg Anton Waller) was born in Neumugl in today's Czech Republic. He studied privately in Vienna (among others with Joseph Machold ) and Munich. He completed his training as a painter with a study trip to Italy (Venice, Florence, Rome). Then he came to Wiedenbrück , together with the painter Georg Goldkuhle , where he joined the Wiedenbrück school . In 1904 Waller moved to Düsseldorf. In Westphalia and the Rhineland he furnished numerous churches with altar paintings, frescoes, crossroads and the like - sometimes together with his colleagues. Ä. from. The restored Stations of the Cross in Bochum-Riemke (St. Franziskus), Rheda (St. Clemens) and in Wiedenbrück ( St. Aegidius ) can still be visited. In Kloster Tepl (Czech Republic) of the restoration after the end of the Socialist system was exposed in the chapter house a ceiling fresco by Waller and restored in the course. Anton Waller's son Renz Waller (1895–1979) became known as a falconer and animal painter . Anton Waller's grandson Jürgen Waller (born 1939) was a painter professor at the University of the Arts in Bremen , where he also served as rector from 1989 to 2004.
