Anton Wurzer
Anton Wurzer (born August 1, 1893 in Altenstadt an der Waldnaab ; † January 5, 1955 in Amberg ) was a German teacher, since 1939 a member of Bamberg's circle of poets and a well-known Upper Palatinate dialect and local poet.
Life
Anton Wurzer was born as the son of a civil servant in Altenstadt an der Waldnaab . When he was two years old, his father was transferred to Weiden , where the family lived from then on. After school, training and various missions in the First World War , in which he took part as a volunteer and was also seriously wounded, he finished his teacher training after the war and worked as a teacher in Pleystein , later in Amberg .
He himself referred to Hermann Hesse as his poet father. His poetry does without the poems of praise and praise to the Führer, the people and the fatherland that were obligatory during the Nazi era. The public attention of his poems is also rather low. Wurzer's poetry is apolitical if one does not necessarily associate terms like “earth” and “homeland” with National Socialist ideas. He also refused to use the new official name "Bavarian Ostmark" for the Upper Palatinate .
Wurzer died withdrawn on January 5, 1955 in Amberg and was also buried there. In 1980 the remains were transferred to his birthplace Altenstadt. A memorial plaque was placed on the house where he was born.
